About MailOverload

Hero head shot

I'm Chris Dritsas, the guy behind MailOverload. I'm a father of 2 young toddlers, I work a full-time job, and am the sole breadwinner for my family. I don't have a lot of free time, but I'm building this because I'm sick of email.

Yes. Email is broken, I'm sick of it, and I'm fixing it.

  • I'm sick and tired of email interrupting my day and stealing my free time.
  • I'm sick and tired of others having the power and control to cause this interruption.
  • I'm sick and tired of seeing hundreds of unread emails clogging my inbox.
  • I'm sick and tired of being forced to sift through the overwhelm to find the ones that are important to me.

Sure. There are "hacks" for some of these issues, but none of them work for me. None of them fully solve the problem.

In fact, they all require a lot of "work." I have enough work, I don't need more. I want to click a button and have this problem solved.

I leave my email open all day long, my phone vibrates and chimes so that important messages can reach me. Turning this off is not an option. I need to be accessible.

...shouldn't be interrupting my day.

Sure, I might want to read all of that, but on my time, when I choose, not when you choose.

Just like LinkedIn, Facebook, and Skype, I want to be in control of who can message me. I want to approve a "connection request" before you have access to my inbox.

But email doesn't work this way. With email, EVERYONE has access to my inbox.

I'm sick of how email works, and I'm fixing it.

Also...

I'm sick of big, arrogant company's who think they know better than me.

Who believe their artificial intelligent algorithms know who should be interrupting my day. They don't. They get it wrong, often.

I know better. I know exactly who should have instant access to my inbox. I know exactly who is important enough in my life to cause interruptions. Not them, and definitely not their "artificial intelligence."

MailOverload is a solution to my own problem

I created this to be a layer that sits on top of an existing email account. If I haven’t "approved" your email (in the form of a connection request), then you don't get access to my inbox. Period.

Yep, if you cold email me and I don't know who you are, you don't get access to my inbox.

You no longer interrupt my day. You no longer get to trigger phone and desktop alerts. You no longer clog my inbox with an overwhelming amount of unread messages.

Instead, I keep you out of my inbox and in a separate folder that I can read on my own time. It never vibrates my phone or pops up a notification on my desktop.

If I never want to read an email from you, I can have it automatically sent straight to my trash.

I can finally use email again...

...and you can too. Give MailOverload a free try, and see if it works for you.
